MS KANWAL KANG

Ms Kanwal (Karmal) Kang is a clinical psychologist and holds a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology. She has over 10 years experience working in public mental health and private practice. Ms Kang has experience and particular interest in working with adults to treat anxiety disorders and mood disorders, stress, trauma and post traumatic stress disorders, antenatal and postnatal depression/anxiety and psychotic illnesses such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. 

Ms Kang has worked in the public mental health sector at the Calvary Hospital Mental Health Unit and Belconnen Mental Health, and at the Brian Hennessy Rehabilitation Centre with adults with psychotic illness. This has given her a broad scope of experience working with individuals with moderate to several mental illness. She is passionate about using psychological therapies to help reduce the severity and distress associated with trauma and with psychotic symptoms, including hearing voices, and assisting clients to live meaningful and fulfilling lives.

Ms Kang completed her Masters of Clinical Psychology degree at the Australian National University and her research investigated the effectiveness of an internet-based therapy program for adolescents with depression. She is trained in evidence based practice, including CBT (cognitive behaviour therapy) and ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) and trauma focused therapies, and tailors treatment to individuals needs.
