DR JENNY COYNE

Dr Coyne is currently on extended leave.

Dr Jennifer (Jenny) Coyne achieved her Doctorate of Psychology (Clinical) from the Australian National University in 2011. She has worked for over ten years as a clinical psychologist with adults in hospital, community mental health and private practice to help support their mental health recovery. As a clinician with neurodiversity, she is passionate about working from a neurodiversity affirming stance. She also works from a client-centred, trauma-informed, gender-diverse affirming and sex positive framework.

Jenny has extensive experience in crisis intervention and assisting survivors of trauma, having worked as a telephone crisis counsellor at the Rape Crisis Centre and as a clinical manager and psychologist at Belconnen Mental Health. Jenny has worked internationally in a clinical psychologist specialist capacity at Canterbury District Health Board in Christchurch, New Zealand. During her two years in this role she was part of the specialist Mental Health Services, working in the Early Intervention in Psychosis Service. Jenny played a key role in the Social Work and Psychology Team at Calvary Healthcare as a Senior Psychologist. In her roles with Calvary Healthcare, Jenny was the sole psychologist responsible for running the perinatal psychology service, and one of two psychologists responsible for the service on the psychiatric ward. During this time, Jenny also provided supervision to psychology Masters students on placement in these areas.

Jenny subsequently worked in the Therapies team in Mental Health, Justice Health, Alcohol and Drug Services. In this role she worked with patients suffering from chronic and severe mental health concerns who were under the case management of an adult outpatient mental health team. This involved working closely with the patient’s case manager and psychiatrist to ensure the delivery of best care to the client. Jenny was responsible for providing therapy to high-risk clients from extensive trauma backgrounds. Recently Jenny has enjoyed expanding her work to a broader systems level whereby she has consulted for auditing firms to provide specialist mental health and psychological input on performance audits of government organisations. Jenny will start to see clients at Rebalance one morning per week.
